Prof Zach Koto
Prof Zach Koto is a fellow of the College of Surgeons of South Africa, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Certificate in Surgical Gastroenterology (CMSA); PhD in Surgery from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal He is the current chair of Surgery at SMU, Head of Unit of Upper GIT, Bariatric Surgery and minimal access Visceral surgery He is the current president of the College of Surgeons of South Africa and the senior Vice President of the CMSA He is the current president of the association of Surgeons (ASSA)
He is an NRF rated researcher with over 100 presentations and publications both Nationally and internationally. Prof Koto has over 30 years experience in laparoscopic surgery and hosted numerous laparoscopic workshops in South Africa and abroad. He performed the first laparoscopic aorto-bifemoral bypass graft in South Africa. He has been the main driver of Laparoscopy in trauma and has published widely in this regard. Prof Koto is passionate teacher for both undergraduate and post graduate students and has
